Inside the huddle: The life of a college athlete

2009 Bentley Falcons.
As preseason football camps begin to come to a close the opening games are only a week away for some college football teams. I personally play football for Division II, Bentley University and we are preparing for our first game in Ohio on August 29th.
Our opening game is quite a big deal for a Division II team because we will be flying, which not only costs a smaller program a lot of money, but is tough on a team that is used to busing to all away games every year.
Although our first game is less than two weeks away, that is still not our main focus. We are still in what we call “camp.” Camp is known as the miserable weeks before the season’s opening game that incorporates double sessions, meetings, lifting, running, and more meetings to prepare for the long season ahead.

Bryan Mroczka is a senior offensive lineman for the Bentley Falcons. Each week during the 2009 season he will be chronicling his experiences as a student athlete.
Here at Bentley we eat breakfast at 7:00 a.m. and usually do not finish until 8 or 9:00 p.m. At that point all you want to do is lie down and begin mentally preparing for the next day.
This season Bentley has a new coaching staff and a new set of rules. I believe these rules are for the best and are bringing the team closer because we have to hold each other accountable to be their best. Our new head coach is asking everyone to buy into the new system and to have a 110% commitment to the team. If everyone has that much commitment and gives the same amount of effort then there is nothing that can stop us from winning.

That's a rugged looking guy in the pic, but knowing he is 6' 6" makes him a mighty tough lineman. Go Falcons
he looks like he could lose a few
