Bruins Beat: Tyler Seguin Is Being Shopped Reports Multiple Sources
Just three years removed from being selected #2 overall, Tyler Seguin is being shopped by the Boston Bruins. Multiple sources have reported the rumblings prior to the NHL Draft.
RDS’ Renaud Lavoie reports Seguin’s name came up on Saturday as Boston appeared “really active” on the trade front, with Tampa Bay reportedly in the mix for the 21-year-old’s services.
CSNNE’s Joe Haggerty reports the proposed asking price for Seguin is steep: Boston wants in the top-10 of Sunday’s draft (the Bruins don’t draft until No. 60 overall) and an impact-level roster player.
Personally, I think this is a big mistake by the Bruins unless they can get a “Godfather-like” offer they can’t refuse.
Granted, Seguin’s playoff performance had a lot to be desired posting only 8 points in 22 games. His offense lacked no doubt about it, but I felt he improved defensively and fought more in the corners for pucks.
Seguin in the regular season has been one of the team’s top offensive performers over the last two seasons, so shipping him off is a bit premature in my opinion.
Seguinistas are crying today (myself included) of these rumors.
PC, all I ask is don’t pull a Joe Thornton trade, getting nothing for high upside and talent because you are growing impatient.
And what the hell am I supposed do with his jersey?
Perhaps the Bruins will let me trade it in like the Patriots are doing with Aaron Hernandez jerseys.
