Patriots Pulse: Rookie WR Aaron Dobson Is Getting Everyone WICKED Excited & Rightfully So (VIDEOS)

Everyone is raving about Patriots’ rookie wide receiver Aaron Dobson thus far and rightfully so.

The kid is bringing it.

Luke Hughes/NESN.com:

Dobson worked with the first-team offense for the second straight day in an attempt to build a rapport with Tom Brady, and he seemed to do just that. Brady looked the rookie’s way a few times early in the practice during 7-on-7 drills, and Dobson, who had some drop problems in the spring, managed to pull down all of them.

Dobson continued his breakout performance during 11-on-11s, running crisp routes and showing off those dependable hands he was heralded for coming out of Marshall. He didn’t drop a single pass on the day and, even without getting great separation, was able to shield defenders and adjust on routes to get open. He didn’t drop a pass during any of the team drills, either.

Erik Frenz/Boston.com:

Concentration was another part of Dobson’s game that was on display, as the rookie made several difficult catches in traffic, including the highlight of the day: Dobson got off the jam of cornerback Aqib Talib, sprinted toward the sideline, and made the leaping catch off quarterback Tom Brady’s throw, with Talib draped all over him.

Rapport with Tom Brady?

Crisp routes?

Concentration?

These were characteristics  of the Patriots WR corps (outside of Wes Welker) that have been lacking since Randy Moss was shipped out of town.

Joey Galloway didn’t get it.

Chad Ochocinco definitely didn’t get it.

And Brandon Lloyd kind of got it…but not enough in the end.

Granted, it’s VERY early in camp but Aaron Dobson is living up to his billing from the NFL Draft where he was selected in the second round, 59th overall.

Bleacher Report:

Aaron Dobson isn’t the flashiest receiver, but with his reliable hands and route-running skills, he’s ready to make an immediate impact in the NFL.

Dobson is a prototypical possession receiver. He knows how to get open, work the sideline and, most importantly, comes down with everything thrown his direction.

In terms of ball skills, Dobson may be the most polished receiver in this year’s draft class.

Fans should be excited about Aaron Dobson this season, don’t fret Patriots Nation, he is NO CHAD JACKSON (Google him if you don’t remember him because many don’t).  This one highlight from his career at Marshall got everyone WICKED pumped during the draft:

But there is so much more…..

He has the tools….

He has the RIGHT attitude.

And he has the opportunity to make a significant impact in the Patriots offense and Pats fans are getting giddy about his potential.

The Patriots better print a TON of those #17 jerseys because they are going to go fast.

  • I was listening to a radio talk team during the draft who were not very happy with the Pats picking Dobson. In fact, they were decidedly unhappy. And, having watched Dobson in high school and all his years at Marshall, I thought, "Boy are they going to eat those words." He is an exciting player to watch and a great kid with character off the field.
