Bruins Beat: Shawn Thornton Teams Up With UFC To Fight Parkinson’s (PHOTOS)

What else can you say about Bruins enforcer Shawn Thornton? He gives it all on the ice and gives it all off the ice. He created the Shawn Thornton Foundation to raise money to fight Parkinson’s and cancer two causes close to his heart after his grandmother’s passing.

He just recently held a golf tournament called Putts and Punches. Bruins teammates Tuukka Rask and Daniel Paille joined Shawn for this great fundraising event.

Shawn Thornton is right back at it trading in his golf club for the Octagon. He has joined forces with Dana White for the UFC  Homecoming on August 14th at 6pm at Barrio Cantina.

Bleacher Report:

Thornton isn’t training jiu-jitsu this summer — anyone who saw the physically punishing Stanley Cup final between the Bruins and Chicago Blackhawks would understand why he’s taking a rest — but Thornton will use his UFC connections for a charity fundraiser on Wednesday night in Boston. Thornton, UFC president Dana White, and UFC Hall of Famer Forrest Griffin will host “UFC Homecoming” at Boston’s Barrio Cantina, an event which will raise money for the Shawn Thornton Foundation.

Any Bruins and/or UFC fan will have a blast at the Barrio Wednesday night. Besides meeting Forrest Griffin, you can meet two ladies that will melt the eyes out of your head, Octagon girls Arianny Celeste and Brittney Palmer.

Sorry guys they will not be cooking you burgers.

Be sure to get your tickets now before they sell out.

Great times on a Great Night for a Great Cause!
