The Boston Celtics are 1-6 in the preseason with their final game tonight against the Brooklyn Nets. While the Celtics have played well at times, they have not finished these games well. This speaks to their youth and lack of a go-to scorer because they sent Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett to the Nets. Gerald Wallace let out his frustrations to the media after the Celtics’ 104-89 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday in Montreal.

“We’re not out there playing with effort,” said Wallace according to The Boston Globe.

Wallace is the oldest member of the team and he has never been past the second round of the playoffs. He is 31 years old and he feels the end of his career coming, but he also is the leader of this young team. Since this is his 12th year in the league, Wallace is trying to tell his teammates that they cannot just show up this late in the preseason and go through the motions.

Off the court, there are Celtics’ players who are achieving stardom to young children by reading to them and interacting with their fans through Twitter.

Chris Babb may no longer be with the team after the preseason. He is making his presence known within the Boston community. Babb, MarShon Brooks, Kris Humphries, DeShawn Sims, and Kameron Taylor were at Mozart Elementary School on Monday reading to children. This was part of the NBA Read to Achieve program. Perhaps, Babb doesn’t have a future in Boston, but he brought smiles to many students on Monday.

This is unknown whether Sullinger is referring to himself on the court or off the court. There are areas where Sullinger must improve such as being able to knock down shots from the perimeter among other things, which he has struggled with during the preseason. Sullinger also must deal with his charge of domestic abuse against his longtime girlfriend from last month. Celtics fans hope that Sullinger can improve on his mistakes and help the Celtics as they rebuild themselves.
